Process

To ensure we create the most effective web site for you, we have developed a step-by-step process that has proved successful.

1 Contact Us

Contact us for access to our Web Planning Guide.

2Web Planning Guide

Before preparing a quote for your web site we ask you to complete our Web Planning Guide. The Web Planning Guide may be completed online, or offline at your leisure via a printable .pdf document that can be faxed or mailed to us. If you are unsure about any steps in this process please Contact us and we will assist you in completing the guide.

3Consultation, Estimate, Contract

Once we receive your completed Web Planning Guide we will contact you to discuss further your likes/dislikes and ideals for your web site. We will then deliver an estimate based upon what you have specified in your answers within your Web Planning Guide and our consultation. Estmates are formulated by considering all work involved. Next, we draw up a written itemized contract for the project. A signed contract protects both parties involved. Once the contract is approved and signed we require your materials and 50% deposit in order to begin creating your web site. Please note that once a contract is signed, any extra work or "add-ons" are considered additional and will be billed accordingly.

4Acquire Domain Name & Hosting Space

What is a Domain Name? - You will need a name or address for your web site called a "domain name" which we can help you select and obtain. A domain name is a specific name or URL (internet address) that is easy to remember and shows you are serious about your business, e.g. www.yourname.com.

What is Hosting? - Once your site is designed the files that actually make up your web site must be placed in a special directory on a web server. Hosting is provided on a yearly basis. Web hosting means finding a server on which to place (publish) your web site so others can see it. This gives a professional appearance to your site, with no pop up advertising or banners to distract your visitors. BestInShow Design offers domain name registration along with domain and sub-domain hosting on a fast reliable server at a very reasonable cost. See hosting for more details.

5Payment

Fees to Best In Show Design are due and payable on the following schedule:
Web site design: 50% non-refundable deposit upon submission of your materials and the signed Contract. Final payment is to be paid in full within 45 days of the receipt of the deposit, regardless of work completion, or upon completion of the work, whichever comes first. We accept check, money order or credit card payment via Pay Pal.
Hosting/Domain Name registration: Full payment before web design work begins.
For your convenience, we accept check, money order, or credit card payment via Pay Pal. All payments must be made in U.S. funds.
Client Area: Access to your Client Area will be granted after receipt of the 50% deposit. We are not obligated to commence work on your web site until all materials and the 50% deposit have been received. Public access to the web site will be granted after final payment is made. An annual hosting/domain name registration bill will be sent out 21 days before the date of first publication. Once both parties agree to the contract, 50% of the total project cost is due before proceeding.

6Getting Your Information to Us

There are two ways you can do this. Either email your information, or if you prefer you may mail it to us. If mailing we recommend you use either Priority Mail, FedX or UPS. Regular mail cannot be tracked if something should happen and some photos are irreplaceable!

Text: Please make sure your text is saved in plain text format with double link breaks between paragraphs in either Word, Notepad or similar. Text may be sent via mail either hand written or typed, but additional charges may apply for formatting. If using mail, please place each text item with appropriate photos for each page.

Photographs: If your photos are scanned correctly they may be emailed to us. The photos must be in either Photoshop PSD or JPEG format, at least 200 dpi high quality and no smaller than 600 pixels wide in true color format.
Or: Scanned images saved as above may be mailed to us on PC compatible CD.
Or: If you do not have a scanner or digital camera to make uploading the pictures an option, we do offer the service of scanning your mailed pictures free of charge. Please ensure that photos are properly labeled. Return postage is paid by you once scanning is complete.

Logos: If you are currently using a logo, please send a clear copy (black on white, if possible) in as large a size as possible.

Pedigrees: Mike has written a pedigree submission form. It is very easy to submit your pedigrees to us!

7The Design Process

Now we have a good idea of what you are looking for and have your materials we will create a draft layout of your site. As your site takes shape you will be able to view your web site via a secure online web address which is accessed through your Client Area. We work very closely with you throughout the design process and your input, suggestions and ideas are always welcomed. Once the draft layout has been completed we will ask for your feedback which is essential in the design process. We will make the changes you request to complete a final layout/design that will be used for your site. After the draft layout is adjusted to your specifications, you will agree to it, stating it is the layout/design you want. Once you have agreed to the design/layout any major changes which involve changes will be billed an hourly rate. All works-in-progress are protected by copyright laws and are copyrighted to BestInShow Design and are not to be downloaded in anyway.

How long will it take? This depends on the size and complexity of the site. It also depends on the length of time it takes to decide on a design and layout. Once this is decided, and all content and your initial 50% deposit has been submitted to BestInShow Design, generally it takes up to four (4) weeks to get your web site online. We do not take on more commitments than we can handle.

8Uploading

Once the site is completed as per our contract, and the final okay is received, the final 50% payment is due. When received, we will upload the site to your host and your site will then be accessible to the world.

9Promotion

It takes time and effort to promote your web site. Once your site is online we will submit it to the top search engines by hand. It commonly takes several months to become listed in search engines.

10Maintenance

Once your web site is complete, your only further costs should be for renewing your domain name, hosting, and site updates. It is important to keep your site 'fresh' and updated in order to keep visitors returning.
